# 006 Ocean: changes and build notes

Record page: `006-ocean.html` (one file, 0.77 MB, no network requests). Prepared 27 September 2026 (PT).
Same locked template and file layout as 002, 003 and 004. **Nothing has been uploaded, published, committed or emailed.**

## 1. The founder's text: every changed phrase

The founder decided that the words follow the drawing. I checked the loom master myself: it has a still, dark centre; a wide ring of cream and gold foam all the way round (no single gold wave); blue rings fading out to a navy band; and at the rim a **plain** solid gold line (r 704–711 mm, with no rope twist) plus 180 gold oval beads. Only the phrases that did not match the drawing were rewritten.

| # | Where | His text (old) | On the page (new) | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | What it is | "a still center, one gold wave, concentric blue rings fading toward the rim." | "a still, dark center, a ring of cream and gold foam around it, concentric blue rings fading toward the rim." | The drawing has no single gold wave. It has a foam ring, mostly cream with gold, round a dark centre |
| 2 | What it is | "Gold rope border, gold bead dots." | "Gold rim line, gold bead dots." | The rim is a plain solid gold line plus beads, not a rope |
| 3 | What it is | "One linen cushion. Soft window light on dark walnut." | *(cut)* | It describes the floor photo, not the carpet |
| 4 | Why it is a masterpiece | "The gold wave is the first motion — one ripple." | "The ring of foam is the first motion — the wave breaking." | There is no gold wave. The foam ring reads as a wave breaking all the way round |
| 5 | Why it is a masterpiece | "The blue rings are everything that ripple became." | "The blue rings are everything that wave became." | Follows from #4, so the sentence still refers back to the one before |
| 6 | The geometry | "The gold wave advances." | "The foam advances." | There is no gold wave |

Everything else is his, word for word, including "center", the em dashes, "The chest saying: I am not the wave. I am what the wave moves on.", "the wave rises" in the sit, and "the origin of the wave, not at the shore". Those use the wave as a picture, not as a description of the drawing.

**Layout changes (no words changed):**
- "006 · Ocean — one page" is kept as the lead line of "What it is".
- The labels "What it is.", "Why it is a masterpiece." and "The geometry." became section headings.
- "The mantra." became the heading "How to sit with this carpet", with "Vam." in the gold framed block and "One syllable. The water seed." beneath it.
- "The sit." and "The sequence." are led by their labels in gold italic.
- "Pain is information…" is a quiet italic note, as on 003.

## 2. Lines added (not in his text)

1. **Why line**, from his Grok chat, 27 Sep 2026, lightly cleaned: "The ocean is our mother, the womb we came from. We bow to our mothers, so we chose the ocean." It is credited as "The founder's words, 27 September 2026". His original: "Ocean is our mother, womb, so we bow to our mothers. We love our mother, so we choose, of course, ocean. It's masterpiece."
2. "The mantra is traditional: the seed syllable of water, at Svadhisthana. It is not Khard Hridaya's own." (the exact wording requested).
3. Vam source note: "In the *Sat-Cakra-Nirupana* (Purnananda, 1577), the six-petalled Svadhisthana lotus holds the white, watery region of Varuna, and there, seated on a Makara, is "the Bija Vam, stainless and white as the autumnal moon" (verses 14–15, in Arthur Avalon's translation, *The Serpent Power*)."
4. "Eleven silk colours, as the loom master shows them:" with 11 swatches, then "Now it waits for its master."
5. **"The ocean"**, a short legend:
   - Gita 2.70 (Telang 1882), the ocean that keeps its position unmoved as the waters enter it.
   - Gita 10.24, "I am the ocean among reservoirs of water".
   - The Sat-Cakra-Nirupana gives water to the Svadhisthana (white half-moon, the region of Varuna, seed syllable Vam).
   - NASA: "Life on Earth itself is thought by some scientists to have begun in the ocean, around vents on the ocean floor."
   - Sources are in `SOURCES.md`; there are no invented dates.
6. Hero line: "Drawn from the carpet's loom master. The blue rings drift in, the foam forms, and the still centre settles."
7. Record status: "Waiting for its master. The drawing awaits the founder's final look." (002/003 wording, plus the draft note).

## 3. Record table

Carpet: Khard Hridaya Carpet 006 · Name: Ocean · Size: 1.5 m round · Material: Hand-knotted mulberry silk · Knots: 150 knots per square inch, about 410,900 in all · Origin: India, Nepal · Status: Waiting for its master. The drawing awaits the founder's final look. · Weaver: To be named when the loom starts · Loom master: SVG, PNG and PDF, each with its SHA-256 · Internet Archive item: To be filed · CID: To be filed. Then "Not a token. Not a medical device."

## 4. The drawing and the animation

- **Source:** only `HRIDAYA-GTC-006-LOOM-MASTER.svg`, the redraw v2 draft.
- **Conversion:** `src/convert.py` flattens and simplifies the 2,152 traced paths at 0.25 mm and writes them in 0.25 mm units (viewBox 0 0 6000 6000), keeping all fills and the stacking order: about 0.55 MB of path data. The master's ground disc and its rim group (navy band, plain gold line, 180 beads) are copied **unchanged** from the SVG.
- **Layers** (`src/layers.py`): the foam ring is measured from the master's foam yarns (Foam Cream, Foam Gold, Sand Gold, Mist Grey), then closed into a band. That gives three clipped layers (blue rings, foam ring, still centre), each holding exactly the master paths visible in its region, in master order. From bottom to top: ground disc, blue, foam, centre, rim.
- **Fidelity at rest** (`src/check.py`, 1000 px against the 6000 px master PNG, inside the round): 0.50% of pixels differ by more than 30/255, and 0.01% by more than 80/255. There is no seam at the rim (0.00%). Along the foam and centre boundaries the only differences are faint edge antialiasing from the simplification; checked on a 4× crop.
- **The one animation, about 10 seconds:**
  - The rim fades in.
  - The blue rings drift in slowly from the rim (from 106% scale and −8°, with a fade, 0.2–5.4 s).
  - The foam ring forms (from 90% scale, 3.6–7.4 s).
  - The still centre settles (from 104% scale, with a fade, 6.8–9.8 s).
  - The caption follows: "Blue rings, drifting in" → "The foam, forming" → "The still centre, settling" → "The whole carpet".
- **Reduced motion:** nothing moves on load. The button reads "Play" and runs the animation only when pressed.

## 5. Checks (Chrome through Playwright, `src/shoot.mjs`)

- No external requests (CSP `default-src 'none'`, fonts embedded). The five source links are ordinary links, fetched only if clicked.
- No sideways scroll at 1280 px or 390 px.
- The smallest text is 18 px. Body text is 20 px on desktop and 19 px on mobile.
- A word scan of the page text found no prices, health or benefit words, or weaver names.

## 6. Files

- `006-ocean.html`, `SOURCES.md`, `CHANGES.md`.
- `src/`: `convert.py` → `paths.json`; `layers.py` (+ `idrender.mjs`) → `layers.json`; `build.py` → the page; `extract_text.py` → `page-text.txt`; `shoot.mjs`; `check.py`; `fonts/`. To rebuild: `cd src && python3 convert.py && python3 layers.py && python3 build.py && python3 extract_text.py && node shoot.mjs && python3 check.py`.
- `shots/`: `006-{desktop,mobile}-1-rings.png`, `-2-foam.png`, `-3-centre.png`, `-4-full-page.png`, and `006-mobile-reduced-motion.png`.

## 7. Open questions for the founder

1. Approve the page and **give the drawing his final look**. If the master changes, rebuild the page (the hashes will change).
2. "The still point sits between them" (in The geometry) is kept as he wrote it. In the drawing the still centre sits *inside* the foam ring, not between the foam and the blue field. Keep it as a picture, or reword?
3. "006 · Ocean — one page" is kept as the lead into "What it is", as asked. "One page" may read oddly to visitors. Keep it?
4. The loom notes and the SVG call the rim line a "rope line", but it is drawn as a plain solid ring. Should the weaver knot a rope twist (then the master needs it), or a plain line (then the notes should say so)?

## Publication, 27 September 2026 (PT)

- The founder approved the drawing and the page on 27 September 2026 (5:29 PM PT). The status row now reads "Waiting for its master. The founder approved the drawing on 27 September 2026." The loom-master source line and the HTML comment were updated to match. Rebuilt with `src/build.py`.
- The Internet Archive item (khard-hridaya-masterpiece-006) and the loom master CID (Lighthouse folder holding the SVG, 6000 PNG and PDF) were filled into the record table.
