## Source used

Carpet is about 1,150 px across in the photo → about 1.6 source px per knot (723 knots across). Enough for the motif layout and leaf/petal shapes; fine vein lines and the dotted bead rings are near the limit.

## Knot context (150 knots/in²)

- 1.5 m round = 59.1 in diameter → about 2,740 in² → **about 410,900 knots**.
- About 12.2 knots per inch each way → **about 723 knots across**; one knot ≈ 2.1 mm.
- The 6000 px render is about 8.3 px per knot, so it is finer than the loom; the design detail is limited by the source photo, not the render.

## Method

Rim ellipse fitted (RANSAC) → affine-rectified to a true circle → edge-preserving denoise → k-means in Lab to 14 yarns → majority filter + merge of specks under 24 px → vtracer (stacked, spline) → palette-only SVG.

## Fidelity — honest notes

- Layout, motif count, proportions and colour families match the live source (see `003-check.png`).
- Lotus pinks read slightly deeper / less luminous than the photo, and the gold bindu slightly less bright: flat yarns cannot carry the photo's sheen highlights.
- Fine leaf veins and the tiny dotted bead rings are simplified to the nearest flat regions at 1.6 px/knot; no motif added or removed.
- The source is a floor photo, not a flat face: minor shading from the room light is baked into the leaf tones (Leaf Deep vs Leaf Mid split partly follows light, not design).
