# Carpet 002 · Yin Yang · sources for the archive record

Record page: `002-yin-yang.html` (single file, no network requests). Prepared 27 September 2026 (PT). Draft for founder approval: not uploaded, published, committed or emailed.

## Every factual line on the page, and where it comes from

| Line on the page | Source |
|---|---|
| The why line (heart of the page), verbatim | `/workspace/hridaya/archive/legends/002-why-approved.md` (founder approved 2026-09-27). The build script reads it from that file, so it cannot drift. |
| "Why it is a masterpiece" and "How to sit with this carpet" (mantra Aum Yin Yang Hum Pad, and the hundred-breath practice), verbatim | Founder's own text, approved for the page 27 September 2026. These are Khard Hridaya's own words and practice, not a traditional source, and they carry no benefit claim. |
| Yin and yang were words for a hillside: yang the sunlit slope, yin the shaded one | IEP, "Yinyang" (oracle-bone use; the *Shijing* verse "yang is the sunny side and yin is the shady side of hill") |
| Sun and moon | IEP: in the Yijing, "the significance of yin and yang correlate with sun and moon" |
| Heat and cold | IEP: Zuozhuan, "an excess of the yin leads to diseases of cold; of the yang, to diseases of heat"; Zhuangzi ch. 31, "cold and heat" |
| Day and night | IEP: "There is sunlight during the day (yang) and a lack of sunlight at night (yin)" |
| Neither stands above the other | IEP (no ranking of one above the other), via the research file |
| As one grows, the other yields | Britannica, "yinyang" (their interplay: as one increases the other decreases), via the research file |
| First swirling diagram credited to Zhao Huiqian, 1370s; "River Chart spontaneously generated by Heaven and Earth" | IEP; Wikipedia "Taijitu", citing François Louis, *HJAS* 63 (2003). IEP notes no one can pin an exact creator for the popular symbol, so the page says "is credited to". |
| The dots became common only in the late Ming and Qing | Wikipedia "Taijitu", citing Louis 2003 (examples dated 1623 and 1688) |
| Ida on the left, the moon; Pingala on the right, the sun | *Hatha Yoga Pradipika* 2.7–10, tr. Pancham Sinh (1914): "the chandra (left nostril)", "the sûrya (right nostril)"; the Sanskrit of 2.10 names iḍā and piṅgalā and calls the practice that "of sun and moon" (sūrya-chandramasor). Also Wikipedia "Nadi (yoga)" (ida left and lunar, pingala right and solar). |
| "Time, in the form of night and day, is made by the sun and the moon." | *Hatha Yoga Pradipika* 4.17, tr. Pancham Sinh (Allahabad: Panini Office, 1914), public domain. Checked word for word on 27 Sep 2026 against Wikisource (Hatha_Yoga_Pradipika/4, verse 17) and the sacred-texts edition (mirror: spiritmaji.com/sacredtext/hin/hyp/hyp06.htm). Sanskrit: sūrya-chandramasau dhattaḥ kālaṃ rātrindivātmakam. The full verse goes on: "That the Susumna devours this time (death) even, is a great secret." The page quotes only the first sentence. |
| Fifteenth-century manual of yoga | Wikipedia "Hatha Yoga Pradipika" (composed by Svātmārāma in the 15th century) |
| Parallel, not one history | Founder's framing. The page says outright that no link is claimed. |
| Tradition gives yin and yang no single colour | Research file: the Korean flag makes blue yin; Britannica pairs yin with orange and yang with azure. So there is no single colour code, and none is given to 002's colours. |
| First face: Shrivatsa endless knot, gold on emerald. Replaced 25 September 2026 by the founder's new design | `/workspace/hridaya/brand/loom/KH-002/KH-002-LOOM-NOTES.md` ("new 002 design supplied by the founder on 2026-09-25 at 11:03 PT; it replaces Shrivatsa"; old 002 = "emerald field with a gold endless knot"). No retired-Shrivatsa file was opened or used. |
| Crimson band a quarter of the radius wide; S of two half-circles; blue half with pale gold seed, gold half with navy seed; clouds traced from the founder's photograph | Loom master metadata and loom notes (band 0.25 R; S-curve of two 281.25 mm semicircles; dots r 71.2 mm; mottle traced from the rectified founder photo) |
| Seven silk colours and their names | Loom master `<kh:palette>`: Temple Crimson #9A1918, Midnight Navy #041429, Royal Blue #043473, Lapis Bright #006EC8, Deep Amber #AF5F14, Saffron Gold #E49614, Pale Gold #F1C281 |
| About 410,900 knots | Loom notes (1.5 m round ≈ 2,740 in² × 150) |
| Khard Hridaya Carpet 002 · 1.5 m round · hand-knotted mulberry silk · 150 knots per square inch · India, Nepal · Waiting for its master · Weaver: To be named when the loom starts (same wording as 004) · Not a token. Not a medical device. · Khard Hridaya Inc · Toronto | Founder's brief for this record (wording used as given) |
| Loom master fingerprints | `sha256sum` on 27 September 2026: HRIDAYA-GTC-002-LOOM-MASTER.svg `a49e2853d56acbc408ae2bbdc5ba0bbaf467ae615b4cd355e8f0da86af6ed114`; HRIDAYA-GTC-002-LOOM-6000.png `30752a7383ec9df41b44d10150de773695cd3b157d3a176d17e4f3c2a1e823c1` |

## What the page deliberately does not say
- It does not call the design Tibetan, and never mentions the gakyil or the Tibetan flag. The gakyil is a different symbol.
- It makes no health, energy, feng shui, or balance-benefit claims. "Balance" appears only inside the founder's approved why line.
- It gives crimson, blue and gold no traditional meaning.
- It does not claim the swirl symbol is thousands of years old. The idea is ancient, but the swirl dates from the 14th century.
- It gives no prices and no weaver names.
- It makes no link between yin-yang and Ida/Pingala beyond a stated parallel.

## Build notes
- Drawing: the master's path data is used unchanged. At rest the page shows exactly the master: in a Chrome render at 700 px, 0.009 % of pixels differ from the master SVG, all antialiasing.
- The only animation: the two halves turn from −150° while closing a 72 mm gap (9–11 s), then each seed grows in the other half (7.6–10.6 s). `prefers-reduced-motion: reduce` shows the still carpet with no autoplay; a Play button runs it on request. There is also a Pause/Continue/Play again control.
- Fonts: Cormorant Garamond and Newsreader (SIL OFL 1.1), subsetted and embedded. These are the same faces and design tokens as the sister record 004, so the two feel like one family.
- Rebuild: `python3 src/build.py`. Screenshots: `node src/shoot.mjs`.
