# KH-009 Tiger — LOOM NOTES (DESIGN A)

**SKU:** HRIDAYA-GTC-009 / Masterpiece 009 Tiger
**OpCo:** Khard Hridaya Inc · Toronto
**Built:** 2026-09-25, 10:36–10:50 PT

> **This is design A, picked by the founder on 2026-09-25 at 10:35 PT, derived from his original photo.**
> The founder sent his original 009 Tiger photo, which shows the full round (`/workspace/009-founder-original.png`, 768×810, angled). Two flat redraws were generated from it, and he picked **option A**. This pack is built from design A. It replaces the earlier redraw v2, which is kept in `redraw-v2/`.

## Source and face

- **Source:** design A, `53c8a740….png`, 1280×720 RGB (the circle sits on white, about 740 px wide and 718 px tall). Copied to `/workspace/redraw/009-designA-src.png`.
- **Circle cut:** the design A disc was about 3.0% wider than tall (ellipse 739.6 × 718.4 px), probably from the 16:9 export. I fitted an ellipse to its outline (residual within ±3 px at 4× scale) and mapped it affinely to a **true circle**. That is a uniform 3% horizontal squeeze. Nothing inside was redrawn or moved. Outside the circle is pure white. Only the top 1 px row touched the frame, and those points were left out of the fit.
- **Upscale:** **Real-ESRGAN x4** (model `RealESRGAN_x4plus_anime_6B`, the flat-art model, run on CPU via torch + spandrel) took the 780×760 crop to 3120×3040. I compared it side by side with `RealESRGAN_x4plus` and a plain Lanczos upscale. anime_6B gave the cleanest edges on eyes, stripes and nose. The Lanczos warp then went to the true circle at 3000 px (build master) and 2048 px (the face file, with light bilateral-based edge-aware sharpening).

## Vector build (loom-ready)

- Built from the 3000 px circle (2 px/mm), with a light bilateral pre-smooth.
- Every pixel was assigned to the nearest named yarn in Lab space, then cleaned with a 3×3 majority filter. The filter protects Cream White, Ink Black and Ivory Tan so thin lines survive.
- **Whiskers:** detected as thin bright lines (morphological top-hat, elongated components only) and locked to Cream White, at least about 1 knot wide, so they run continuous across the dark stripes as in design A.
- **Eyes:** no majority filter inside the two eye boxes. Iris, pupil, catchlight and eyelid line come straight from the face, with a 2×2-knot floor.
- **Minimum area:** everywhere else, any patch under **9 knots (3×3 knots ≈ 38.7 mm²)** was merged into its neighbour.
- Nose Pink is limited to the nose. Its hex was sampled from design A's nose.
- Traced with vtracer in **spline** mode (smooth curves, no pixel stairs).
- **Thin dark crimson rim:** Rim Crimson `#5C0A12`, r 742–750.5 mm (about 8 mm, about 4 knots), drawn as clean circle geometry. Inside it is design A's crimson field.
- The SVG uses **only the 14 named palette colours** (checked).
- **SVG:** 2.88 MB · **1,526 paths** (+1 ring shape, 1,528 elements in total) · **14 colours**.

## Knot context (150 knots/in²)

A 1.5 m round is 59.1 in across, about 2,740 in², so **about 410,900 knots** and **about 723 knots across**. One knot is about 2.1 mm, and the 6000 render is about 8.3 px per knot.

## Palette (14 yarns)

"Share" is measured on the 6000 render inside the round. Knot counts are approximate (share × 410,900).

| Yarn | Hex | Share | ≈ Knots |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ink Black | `#1C1817` | 5.2% | ~21,000 |
| Charcoal Cloud | `#292927` | 12.1% | ~50,000 |
| Smoke Grey | `#4C4A45` | 10.2% | ~42,000 |
| Oxblood | `#672014` | 1.0% | ~4,000 |
| Rim Crimson | `#5C0A12` | 1.9% | ~8,000 |
| Tiger Crimson | `#941219` | 17.9% | ~74,000 |
| Flame Red | `#A3231F` | 4.2% | ~17,000 |
| Bronze | `#905D2E` | 0.7% | ~3,000 |
| Rust Orange | `#BF6F1C` | 4.1% | ~17,000 |
| Tiger Amber | `#CF8729` | 5.1% | ~21,000 |
| Temple Gold | `#E2A13B` | 17.8% | ~73,000 |
| Ivory Tan | `#F0CF99` | 4.1% | ~17,000 |
| Cream White | `#FBECCA` | 15.5% | ~64,000 |
| Nose Pink | `#F58A7D` | 0.3% | ~1,000 |

## Fidelity vs design A

- Same design: the calm front-facing tiger with its crimson muzzle and forehead (Flame Red, set apart from the Tiger Crimson field), black and cream stripes, amber eyes with pupil and catchlight, pink nose, cream whiskers, charcoal/grey smoke clouds with gold edges, and gold and cream flame ribbons flowing to the rim. The average colour of the render matches the face within about 2 L* units.
- Simplified by the knot grid:
  - Fine fur hatching and soft tonal blends in the clouds and flames are now flat bands (2–3 tones per area).
  - Hair-thin dark outlines under 1 knot wide are merged.
  - The two close golds in the flames share one yarn (Temple Gold).
- The thin dark crimson rim band is the only element added, as requested. Design A ends in plain crimson at its edge.
