# 009 Tiger: changes and build notes

Record page: `009-tiger.html` (one file, 0.71 MB, no network requests). Prepared 27 September 2026 (PT).
Same locked template and file layout as 003 and 006. **Nothing has been uploaded, published, committed or emailed.**

## 1. The founder's text: every changed phrase

Founder rule: the words follow the drawing. I checked the loom master myself. It shows a full-front tiger face: orange, amber and cream with black stripes, a red stripe down the nose, a cream-white muzzle, a pink nose, amber eyes with a light catchlight, and **cream** whiskers. The face sits on a **crimson** field, with charcoal clouds edged in gold round the head, gold and cream flames flowing below, and a thin dark crimson rim.

| # | Where | His text (old) | On the page (new) | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | What it is | "Gold and amber stripes on deep black," | "Orange, cream and black stripes, a red stripe down the nose," | The stripes are black on orange, amber and cream, and there is no black ground. The red nose stripe is one of the strongest marks in the drawing |
| 2 | What it is | "the whiskers drawn in fine gold thread." | "the whiskers drawn in fine cream thread." | The whiskers are Cream White |
| 3 | What it is | *(nothing)* | "Around the face, dark clouds and gold and cream flames on a crimson field, closed by a thin dark rim." | New sentence. His text says nothing of the field, the clouds, the flames or the rim, and "deep black" and "shadow" were wrong about them |
| 4 | What it is | "two points of light in a field of shadow." | "two points of light in a field of fire." | The field is crimson, with flames |
| 5 | What it is | "One linen cushion. Soft window light on dark walnut." | *(cut)* | It describes the floor photo |

**Checked and kept as he wrote them:**
- "The stripes radiate outward from the center": broadly true, since the forehead stripes fan out from the red centre stripe and the cheek stripes sweep outward.
- "a tiger's face, full front, eyes open, staring straight at the one who sits".
- "the white muzzle, the pink nose".
- The triangle geometry.
- "The chest saying: I am not the prey."
- The full sequence line.

**Layout changes (no words changed):**
- His opening "009 · Tiger — the first animal in the Archive. Not a symbol of power. A symbol of presence." is the why line, credited "The founder's words, 27 September 2026".
- His labels became section headings.
- "Ram." sits in the gold framed block with "One syllable. The fire seed." beneath it.
- "Pain is information…" is the quiet italic note.

## 2. Lines added (not in his text)
1. "The mantra is traditional: the seed syllable of fire, at Manipura. It is not Khard Hridaya's own." (the exact wording requested)
2. Ram source note (verse 19 and commentary, *The Serpent Power*), quoted in `SOURCES.md`.
3. "Fourteen silk colours, as the loom master shows them:", 14 swatches, then "Now it waits for its master."
4. **"The tiger"**, a short legend:
   - India's national animal (Government of India notification, 2011).
   - Durga riding a lion or tiger, and Shiva on a tiger hide (Britannica).
   - The verified numbers (section 3 of `SOURCES.md`).
5. Hero line: "Drawn from the carpet's loom master. The flames and clouds settle, the face comes, and the eyes brighten last."
6. Record status: "Waiting for its master. The drawing awaits the founder's final look."

## 3. Record table
Carpet: Khard Hridaya Carpet 009 · Name: Tiger · Size: 1.5 m round · Material: Hand-knotted mulberry silk · Knots: 150 knots per square inch, about 410,900 in all · Origin: India, Nepal · Status: Waiting for its master. The drawing awaits the founder's final look. · Weaver: To be named when the loom starts · Loom master: SVG, PNG and PDF, each with its SHA-256 · Internet Archive item: To be filed · CID: To be filed. Then "Not a token. Not a medical device."

## 4. The drawing and the animation
- **Source:** only `HRIDAYA-GTC-009-LOOM-MASTER.svg` (design A).
- **Conversion:** `src/convert.py` flattens and simplifies the 1,525 traced paths at 0.25 mm and writes them in 0.25 mm units, keeping every fill and the stacking order: about 0.54 MB of path data. The ground disc and the rim band are copied unchanged.
- **Layers** (`src/layers.py`), each holding exactly the master paths visible in its region, in master order:
  - **Flames and clouds.**
  - **Face:** a face outline set by hand on the render (symmetric polygon, in `layers.py`), plus the whiskers where they cross the flames. The whiskers are found as long, thin Cream White lines joined to the face.
  - **Eyes:** a 36 mm disc round each iris, at (620, 525) and (880, 523) mm.
- **Fidelity at rest** (`src/check.py`, 1000 px against the 6000 px master PNG): 1.72% of pixels differ by more than 30/255, and 0.12% by more than 80/255. That is higher than 003/006 because this drawing has many fine edges (whiskers, fur). A 4× crop shows the differences are antialiasing along edges only, with nothing missing or moved. There is no seam at the rim (0.00%).
- **The one animation, about 9 seconds:**
  - The rim fades in.
  - The flames and clouds settle in (from 105% scale and 4°, with a fade, 0.2–4.6 s). While they settle, the face area shows as plain crimson field.
  - The face comes in (from 94% scale, with a fade, 3.0–6.6 s).
  - The eyes brighten last: they arrive with the face but dimmed, then rise to full brightness (6.6–9.0 s).
  - The caption follows: "Flames and clouds, settling" → "The face" → "The eyes, brightening" → "The whole carpet".
- **Reduced motion:** nothing moves on load, and Play runs the animation on request.

## 5. Checks (Chrome through Playwright, `src/shoot.mjs`)
- No external requests. The source links are ordinary links, fetched only if clicked.
- No sideways scroll at 1280 px or 390 px.
- The smallest text is 18 px. Body text is 20 px on desktop and 19 px on mobile.
- A word scan of the page text found no prices, health or benefit words, or weaver names.

## 6. Files
- `009-tiger.html`, `SOURCES.md`, `CHANGES.md`.
- `src/`: `convert.py`, `layers.py` (+ `idrender.mjs`), `build.py`, `extract_text.py` → `page-text.txt`, `shoot.mjs`, `check.py`, `slice.py`, `fonts/`. To rebuild: `cd src && python3 convert.py && python3 layers.py && python3 build.py && python3 extract_text.py && node shoot.mjs && python3 check.py && python3 slice.py`.
- `shots/`:
  - `009-{desktop,mobile}-1-flames.png`, `-2-face.png`, `-3-eyes.png`, `-4-full-page.png`
  - `009-mobile-reduced-motion.png`
  - `read-01.png` … `read-13.png`: the mobile full page cut into phone screens, 780 × 1482 each, with the last one padded.

## 7. For the founder to decide
1. Approve the page, and **give design A his final look**. If the master changes, rebuild the page (the hashes change).
2. The rewrites in section 1, especially the new sentence #3 ("Around the face, dark clouds and gold and cream flames on a crimson field, closed by a thin dark rim.").
3. "The first animal in the Archive": kept as his claim. Please confirm that none of 001–008 shows an animal.
4. Tibetan tiger rugs as seats were **left out**, because no museum page could be verified from here. They can be added if a museum source is provided.
5. The numbers mix two counts (GTF 2023 and WWF 2025). Both are given, each with its year. Keep both, or choose one?

## Publication, 27 September 2026 (PT)

- The founder approved the drawing and the page on 27 September 2026 (5:29 PM PT). The status row now reads "Waiting for its master. The founder approved the drawing on 27 September 2026." The loom-master source line and the HTML comment were updated to match. Rebuilt with `src/build.py`.
- The Internet Archive item (khard-hridaya-masterpiece-009) and the loom master CID (Lighthouse folder holding the SVG, 6000 PNG and PDF) were filled into the record table.
