# 008 Big Bang: changes and build notes

Record page: `008-big-bang.html` (one file, 0.96 MB, no network requests). Prepared 27 September 2026 (PT), after the founder's "008 go" at 5:45 PM PT.
Same locked template and file layout as 002, 003, 004, 006 and 009. **Build only: nothing has been uploaded to the Internet Archive, Lighthouse or Fil One, nothing is on the website, and there are no PRs, commits or emails.**

## 1. The loom master used

- **`/workspace/hridaya/brand/loom/KH-008/HRIDAYA-GTC-008-LOOM-MASTER.svg`** (+ `-6000.png`, `.pdf` in the same folder): **REDRAW v2**, built 25 Sep 2026, "approved in principle by the founder 2026-09-25, pending his final look" (SVG `<desc>`). 12 yarns, 2,734 shapes, 88 core rays, rope rim with 268 twists.
- **Not used:** `KH-008/photo-trace-v1/` (the earlier pack, also 25 Sep 2026, traced from the website picture; about a quarter of the round was placeholder black). The v2 notes call it "Previous photo-traced pack … kept, not deleted".
- **How "newest" was decided:** `KH-008/` is not a git repository, and every file time is the same copy time (26 Sep 2026, 10:26 PM PT), so the order comes from the two notes files: v2 names photo-trace-v1 as its predecessor.
- I rendered the SVG myself in Chrome (`src/loomlook.mjs`) and compared it with the 6000 px PNG: 0.18% of pixels inside the round differ by more than 30/255 (edges only), none by more than 80/255. So the PNG is a faithful render of the SVG.

## 2. The founder's text: every changed phrase

What the drawing shows (checked by eye and with a mask for each yarn, see `SOURCES.md`): a **pale-gold** core (Star Light `#FAEB9A`; there is no white yarn) in a gold and bronze glow; **88 fine gold rays**; a black gap; a **violet smoke ring** (three violets) with **gold veins** through it; a **ring of gold dust**; **gold stars** scattered on a **black field**; and a **gold rope rim**.

| # | Where | His text (old) | On the page (new) | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | What it is | "a blinding white-gold center." | "a blinding pale-gold center." | The lightest yarn is Star Light, a pale gold. There is no white in the palette |
| 2 | What it is | *(nothing)* | "Fine gold rays burst from the center, gold veins run through the violet, and beyond the ring of gold dust, gold stars scatter across a black field to a gold rope rim." | New sentence. His text names only the ring, the dust and the centre; the rays, veins, stars, black field and rope rim are strong parts of the drawing |
| 3 | What it is | "master-level loom," | *(cut)* | No loom or weaver has been chosen, so it cannot be confirmed |
| 4 | What it is | "about seventy days on the loom." | *(cut)* | Unconfirmed (as the brief says) |
| 5 | The geometry | "The gold dust drifts between them like the first dust of creation." | "The gold dust drifts around them both like the first dust of creation." | In the drawing the gold dust ring lies **outside** the violet ring, not between the centre and the ring. Between them are the rays and a black gap |

**Checked and kept as he wrote them:** "Violet ring, gold dust"; "Round, one point five meters, one hundred fifty-knot mulberry silk"; all of "Why it's a masterpiece" (including "the circling *is* the practice"); "A blinding center that recedes the harder you look. The violet ring advances."; "No bindu to rest on — the bindu is the thing that blinds you."; the mantra lines; the sit (with *ham* and *zero grip* in italics, as he had them); the sequence with *ignites*; "Pain is information…". "Blinding" and "too bright to look at directly" are kept as his picture of the centre (see open question 4).

**No floor-photo line to cut.** His 008 text has no cushion, window or walnut sentence.

**Layout changes (no words changed):**
- His opening "008 · Big Bang — the universe's first breath." is the why line (as 009's opening was), credited "From the founder's text, 27 September 2026". The rest of that paragraph opens "What it is".
- "Why it's a masterpiece" became the template heading "Why it is a masterpiece".
- "Ham." sits in the gold framed block with "One syllable. The space seed." beneath it.
- "The sit." and "The sequence." are led by their labels in gold italic. "Pain is information…" is the quiet italic note.

## 3. Lines added (not in his text)
1. "The mantra is traditional: the seed syllable of space, at Vishuddha, the throat centre. It is not Khard Hridaya's own." His mantra is only "Ham", so nothing is marked as Khard Hridaya's own.
2. The Ham source note (verses 28 and 29, *The Serpent Power*), quoted in `SOURCES.md`. It includes the text's own "of a smoky purple hue" for the throat lotus.
3. "Twelve silk colours, as the loom master shows them:", 12 swatches from the master's palette, then "Now it waits for its master."
4. **"The Big Bang"**, a short legend in story voice: Planck's about 13.8 billion years (2018); Lemaître's "unique atom" (1931) and his fireworks image; Hoyle's "one big bang" on BBC radio (28 March 1949); Penzias and Wilson and the 1978 Nobel Prize; the light "imprinted on the sky" at about 380,000 years; the CfA's "everywhere in space, not at a particular point" (so the carpet's bright centre is "an image of the beginning, not a map of it"); Rigveda 10.129 as a parallel only.
5. **"The drawing"** (design evolution): the number 008 was once Tara Code's; the first trace from the website picture (three quarters of the round); the flat redraw the same day with his go-ahead in principle, made with an image-generation tool and chosen from four candidates; a four-line list of what the master shows; "The drawing awaits the founder's final look."
6. Hero line: "Drawn from the carpet's loom master. The core lights, the rays burst out, the violet ring gathers, and the gold dust settles last."
7. Record status: "Waiting for its master. The drawing awaits the founder's final look." (the wording 006 and 009 used before approval).

## 4. Record table
Carpet: Khard Hridaya Carpet 008 · Name: Big Bang · Size: 1.5 m round · Material: Hand-knotted mulberry silk · Knots: 150 knots per square inch, about 410,900 in all · Origin: India, Nepal · Status: Waiting for its master. The drawing awaits the founder's final look. · Weaver: To be named when the loom starts · Loom master: SVG, PNG and PDF, each with its SHA-256 · Internet Archive item: Pending publication · CID: Pending publication. Then "Not a token. Not a medical device."

## 5. The drawing and the animation
- **Source:** only `HRIDAYA-GTC-008-LOOM-MASTER.svg` (redraw v2).
- **Conversion:** `src/convert.py` flattens and simplifies the 2,376 traced paths at 0.25 mm and writes them in 0.25 mm units (viewBox 0 0 6000 6000), keeping every fill and the stacking order: about 0.51 MB of path data. The ground disc, the 88 core rays and the rim group (black band, gold rope, 268 twists) are copied **unchanged** from the SVG.
- **Layers** (`src/layers.py`), each holding exactly the master paths visible in its region, in master order:
  - **Violet ring:** a band measured from the master's three violet yarns (for every degree, the 2nd–98th percentile radius, smoothed, plus 8 mm). Inner edge r 262–354 mm, outer edge r 415–511 mm.
  - **Core:** everything inside the band (core, glow, black gap). The rays sit above it, as in the master.
  - **Outer:** everything outside the band (gold dust ring and stars) out to the rim.
- **Fidelity at rest** (`src/check.py`, 1000 px against the 6000 px master PNG, inside the round): 0.43% of pixels differ by more than 30/255, and 0.00% by more than 80/255. Along the violet and core clip edges: 0.65% and 0.49% over 30/255. The outer clip's figure (4%) comes only from its outer circle under the rope rim (5.9% at r 480–500 px, 0.6% elsewhere), which is antialiasing of the twist strokes; 0.00% over 80/255 at the rim.
- **The one animation, about 10 seconds** (an expansion from the centre, taken straight from the drawing's own parts):
  - The rim fades in.
  - The core lights (from 30% scale, with a fade, 0.2–3.2 s).
  - The 88 rays burst out (from 40% scale, 1.6–4.4 s).
  - The violet ring gathers (from 80% scale and −8°, 3.4–7.2 s).
  - The gold dust and stars settle last (from 86% scale and 6°, 5.6–9.8 s).
  - The caption follows: "The first light" → "The rays, bursting out" → "The violet ring, gathering" → "Gold dust and stars, settling" → "The whole carpet".
- **Reduced motion:** nothing moves on load (0 animations), and Play runs the animation on request.

## 6. Checks (Chrome through Playwright, `src/shoot.mjs`)
- No external requests (CSP `default-src 'none'`, fonts embedded). The source links are ordinary links, fetched only if clicked.
- No sideways scroll at 1280 px or 390 px.
- The smallest text is 18 px. Body text is 20 px on desktop and 19 px on mobile; the lead paragraphs are 20.8 px on mobile.
- A word scan of `src/page-text.txt` found no prices, health or benefit words, and no weaver names; "seventy", "master-level", "linen", "walnut" and "white-gold" do not appear.

## 7. Files
- `008-big-bang.html`, `SOURCES.md`, `CHANGES.md`, `loom-look.png` (1080 × 1920: the master SVG rendered in Chrome, a 3× crop of the centre, and the file name and short SHA-256, for the founder's final look on his phone).
- `src/`: `convert.py` → `paths.json`; `layers.py` (+ `idrender.mjs`) → `layers.json`; `build.py` → the page; `extract_text.py` → `page-text.txt`; `shoot.mjs`; `check.py`; `slice.py`; `loomlook.mjs` + `loomlook.py` → `loom-look.png`; `fonts/`. To rebuild: `cd src && python3 convert.py && python3 layers.py && python3 build.py && python3 extract_text.py && node shoot.mjs && python3 check.py && python3 slice.py && node loomlook.mjs && python3 loomlook.py`.
- `shots/`:
  - `008-{desktop,mobile}-1-core.png`, `-2-rays.png`, `-3-ring.png`, `-4-dust.png`, `-5-full-page.png` (the mobile full page is 390 px wide at 2×)
  - `008-mobile-reduced-motion.png`
  - `read-01.png` … `read-16.png`: the mobile full page cut into phone screens, 780 × 1482 each, with the last one padded.

## 8. For the founder to decide
1. **Give redraw v2 his final look** (`loom-look.png`), and approve the page. If the master changes, rebuild (the hashes change).
2. **The why line.** His text has no separate "why we chose it" line (for 006 he said "Ocean is our mother…"). I used his opening, "008 · Big Bang — the universe's first breath.", the way 009 used its opening. In the chat, that whole one-page text is Grok's answer to his request, so it is not a sentence he spoke himself. Keep it, or give a one-line why of his own?
3. The rewrites in section 2, especially #2 (the new sentence on rays, veins, stars and the rope rim) and #5 ("around them both").
4. "Blinding" and "too bright to look at directly" are kept as his picture of the centre. In silk the centre is pale gold, not literally blinding. Keep as poetry, or soften?
5. "The chest saying" is kept, as in the other records, though Ham belongs to the throat centre. Keep, or "The throat saying"?
6. "The drawing" says openly that the redraw was "made with an image-generation tool" and that the number 008 was once Tara Code's. Both are true and matter for provenance. Keep both, or trim?
7. **Earlier uploads of these same files.** `/workspace/kh-loom-port/uploads.tsv` and `plates-table.md` list Lighthouse CIDs for `HRIDAYA-GTC-008-LOOM-MASTER.svg`, `-6000.png` and `.pdf` with byte sizes matching the current master (3,152,579 · 4,624,642 · 1,844,625). These were per-file uploads for the website loom plates, not the record's folder CID. As instructed the page says "Pending publication". At publication, use a fresh record folder CID the way 006/009 did, or reuse those?
8. **Numbering drift.** In the same Grok chat he was told the homepage still shows Big Bang as 009 and that an earlier lock had Big Bang as 006. I did not check the live site (build only). Please confirm 008 = Big Bang everywhere before publishing.
9. `KH-008/KH-008-FACE-LOCK.md` still reads "Masterpiece 008 — Tara Code … face NOT locked". It is left over from before the renumber. Leave it, or move it to KH-007?

## Publication, 27 September 2026 (PT)

- The founder looked at the page and the loom drawing (`loom-look.png`) and said "live" on 27 September 2026 (5:56 PM PT). With that, he approved redraw v2 and the record page. The status row now reads "Waiting for its master. The founder approved the drawing on 27 September 2026." The last line of "The drawing", the loom-master source line and the HTML comment were updated to match. Rebuilt with `src/build.py`.
- The Internet Archive item (khard-hridaya-masterpiece-008) and the loom master CID (a fresh Lighthouse folder holding the SVG, 6000 PNG and PDF, as for 006 and 009) were filled into the record table. The earlier per-file uploads for the website loom plates were not reused.
- The note at the top ("Build only…") describes the page as it was built, before publication.
